OMTA Piano Play-a-thon

This is a fund-raising event to benefit the Ronald McDonald House that takes place every two years. It is an opportunity for students to perform locally in a “fun” environment, and for OMTA•SW to promote music education.

The most recent Piano Play-a-thon was held on February 24, 2007.

Event format

  • Students take monetary pledges for their performances given at area book stores on Play-a-thon weekend.

  • Prizes are awarded for different amounts of monies raised.

  • All participants receive a tee-shirt and McDonald’s coupon.

  • Refer to the event information forms for additional information.

The February 2007 Play-A-Thon

On February 24, 2007, more than 400 music students across the tri-state participated at seven locations in the 5th biennial Ronald McDonald House Piano Play-a-thon. The OMTA Southwest District has committed resources to produce this event with the proceeds donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Cincinnati.

More than 40 teachers entered students in the event that raised neaarly $18,000 for the Ronald McDonald House. Kids helping families — supporting playing at all levels and from all backgrounds — makes this event a winning situation for everyone.

The next Piano Play-a-thon will be held in 2009. The goal then is to have more than 1000 students participating.
